Key Competencies

  1. Wide experience in building capacities of various stakeholders in the management and conservation of forest resources including training needs assessment, development of training courses, facilitation of courses and evaluation of training courses for rural communities and other stakeholders over my working life spanning 30 years.
  2. I have specific interest and experience in participatory forest management both as a trainer and facilitator of PFM with different forest adjacent communities and cadres of staff working for Government and non-governmental organizations.
  3. I have been involved in climate change research particularly on the area of how communities in the drylands can adapt to climate change with the use of forest resources and other natural resources in the forests.
  4. I have particular strengths in team building, networking and experience in working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment having worked in bilateral research initiatives in Kenya including projects supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC), USAID, World Bank (WB), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation. I see myself as a team player and a motivator of individuals and partners towards achievement of commonly shared goals.
  5. Preparation of extension materials for different cadres of staff including manuals, leaflets, video documentaries, guidelines.
  6. Facilitation of communities in implementing Donor funded projects for management and conservation of natural resources
  7. Development of guidelines for rehabilitation of degraded mining sites for small scale miners
