The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and Kenya Forest Service (KFS), in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is implementing a project entitled; “Strengthening Forestry Sector Development and Community Resilience to Climate Change through Sustainable Forest Management and Landscape Restoration (SFS-CORECC)”. The project is supported by JICA and will run for a period of 5 years from 1st February 2022 to 31st January 2027. SFS-CORECC was started to further strengthen policy and implementation capacity of the central and local governments, and contribute to increasing tree cover by supporting promotion of commercial forestry and development and dissemination of drought-resistant forest trees. Through projects Regional Cooperation component, SFS-CORECC will also contribute to combating climate change in sub-Saharan Africa


Project purpose


The capacity of relevant institutions in Kenya is strengthened for promoting sustainable forest management, landscape restoration and climate mitigation and adaptation in the country and in the region
